The U. S. imports four times the dollar amount of goods as it exports to China. Steve Orlins, president of the National Committee on U. S.-China Relations, believes that if tariffs are used to address the issue, a unified effort with American allies is a better approach. He suggests the U. S. should not have withdrawn from the Trans-Pacific Partnership as it hurts trade for Illinois industry.
