Dog Days.
Turns out we've been griping about the weather from as far back as the ancient Greeks and Romans.
Ancient astronomers noticed when Sirius, the Dog Star, would rise just before the sun, the days were at their hottest.
Depending on latitude, this would make the hottest days of the year between July and August, the dog days of summer, and that is where the phrase dog days comes from.
