Learn Moreabout PBS online sponsorship- [Radio] Whiskey Tango Victor Papa, you're clear to land.
- Roger that.
Toddfather, can you believe they're letting us fly this thing?
- [Todd] I can't, just keep your eyes on it.
- I will, I will.
Coming up on GO DAY here, folks, we're going down, we're 500 feet, descending down.
We're coming down on sports, arts, community, music.
You don't want to miss it, folks, so go ahead.
We're gonna show you the vibes, we'll see you down there.
I can't believe I actually landed that thing.
Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to GO DAY.
Now that we are here on the ground, it is time to go have some fun.
Toddfather, what do you say?
Let's go.
(upbeat music) Allison Kieser everybody, talk to us, please explain the vibes here today.
- Yes, okay, well, the vibes are immaculate here because we have the most perfect day down on the waterfront here and we're excited to be on the riverfront for GO DAY, which our team is so thrilled to be a part of.
Choose Greater Peoria really worked so hard to put this event together and partnering with the Big Picture Street Festival, we have art, we have sports, we have all the fun things that you can think of, a helicopter, I mean, you name it, it's here.
- I actually kind of got choked up as I was walking down here because this is free for everyone and you have families from all over the region.
You can get into art, you can do sports, you can listen to music, you can check out a Chinese dragon boat.
You've got free admission to the Cat Visitor Center and free admission to the Peoria Riverfront Museum.
So there is truly something for everyone.
And there's a big bar right there in the middle, the parents need a refreshment.
- Oh, this is a great event, so much fantastic energy.
We couldn't have asked for a better day to be outside and enjoy a lot of what Peoria has to offer.
- Not every community can say they have opportunities to come out here for free and participate, meet people, get their kids introduced to the community as well.
So it's just really a blessing to have these opportunities.
- They said at 12:30, this thing's going up in the air and everyone can jump out with a parachute if they want, but they have to have their parents' consent.
- I'm from Connecticut, I love it, it reminds me a lot of back home and everyone in the community come together.
It's nice to be back.
Last year we did the same thing, loved it, love coming back here, do it again.
- The vibe is amazing.
There's so much energy, so much to do.
Food, bounce houses, I mean, an amazing helicopter.
It's fabulous.
- I actually landed that in here.
- Wow, you really can do it all.
- So, two ladies, young ladies, who are not from here, give me your first impressions of Peoria and this event.
- Hey, this is a wonderful venue.
You've got so much room.
The river's gorgeous, you have wide open space, free parking, and I hope this can continue to be an annual thing.
- I've been to Peoria multiple times playing rugby with my son, various other sports, it is the place to be for outdoor activities.
- Any of your friends that aren't here right now, what would you tell them if you got on FaceTime?
- I think I would tell them, hey, they don't know much about Peoria, I'm from California, so, I mean, I would immediately show them the bridge and then show them around and what Peoria has to offer.
- We have Mirandas, we have Brick and Ember, we have Tin Roof, we have HISRA, we have the National Guard.
We have so many people here.
Peoria Playhouse, the Riverman, you name it, they're here, and so many artists are here as well.
So the beautiful mix of art, meeting sports, and how our community is the heart of all of that and how we have a little bit of everything for everyone.
- You're amazing, thank you so much.
- We are the... - [Both] Greater Chicago Dragon Bowl Club, the Chicago Blades and we cut you up.
