>> Woody Guthrie was born in Okemah, Oklahoma, in 1912.
At the age of 15, with his family broken apart, he hit the road.
The Depression and the Dust Bowl had a profound influence on his early writing, and he had a real empathy and respect for the hardworking people that had lost their jobs and their homes.
He spent his life writing songs that gave a voice to all people who were left out or left behind, the disenfranchised, and the oppressed.
>> He said, "All you can write is what you see," and the music that emerged would forever change the path that generations of song writers would take.

At the time, they told me it was a song that hadn't been put to music yet.
Later, it turned out that it was a letter.
