The Illinois River has struggled for decades with a build-up of silt. More recently, native fish have suffered population decline when invasive Asian carp entered the riverway. In two separate conversations, we address efforts to use river silt and river sand, combined with compost, for a new engineered soil for commercial sale. And fishermen have a new option for their growing Asian carp catch.
